    JJ On Jamaica Duty



    Owls winger Jermaine Johnson has been selected for Jamaica's squad to face Guatemala next week.
    Following Wednesday's match with Southampton this weekend, the talented wide man will fly back to his home land for the friendly match set to be played on November 18.
    Johnson will return ahead of the Owls trip to Queens Park Rangers on November 24.




    Owls jet-heeled winger Jermaine Johnson has been rewarded for his fine performances in the blue and white stripes this season by receiving a call-up to the Jamaica squad.

    Johnson has been selected to be part of the Jamaican squad to come up against Guatemala next week, and will be departing Hillsborough for his homeland following the Owls' clash with Southampton today.

    The 27-year-old has already snapped up 40 starts for his country, netting four goals along the way, and will be hoping to impress the Jamaican management staff in the friendly match on Sunday, November 18.

    But the winger won't miss any matches for Wednesday, returning in time for the Owls' trip to London to face QPR in a vital clash on Saturday, November 24.

    JJ has been in inspirational form for Wednesday of late, after Brian Laws had dropped him earlier in the season for his inconsistent performances.

    Let's hope the boost for the winger gives him some extra hunger to impress and fire Wednesday to three points against the Saints this afternoon.

    The Tykes winger, who arrived at Oakwell from Southend in August, will link up with the Reggae Boyz in Kingston in time for the visit of Guatemala on November 18.
    A second match against yet-to-be-named opponents has been scheduled for November 21.
    Campbell-Ryce, 24, has been a virtual ever-present for Barnsley this season, but has yet to score his first goal. He has won five full caps for Jamaica.

          When is he on the bench? I saw a game a week ago where he started and both he and JJ scored. Being on the bench from time to time is a reality in professional football. A couple months ago, the SW coach had JJ on the bench too.

            JJ just had around 2 games on the bench. Half of Burton's games are from the Bench.

              You have not been following Sheffield Wed. The coach put JJ on the bench for a long time because he was not playing team. It might have been closer to a month or so he had him on the bench. We even discussed it here in this forum.

                The fact is that the man has been a starter for the most part. He has started 11 of their 16 games, been a sub in two and was suspended for one.

                  Burton hasn't been scoring and they haven't been wining. The game he scored he came off the bench.

                    OK, what of the end of last season? I think that is where he was benched for a long time.

                        that was right after his transfer and I think he was also injured for a short while

                              Yes, but the season runs until mid May. I said he was kept out near the end of the season.
