Halliman, C'bar old boys, Speid hail Hunt

Excelsior's Manning Cup coach Lebert Halliman, a long-time friend of David Hunt, has described him as a top administrator, coach and football lover.

Halliman's association with Hunt goes back to over 20 years ago.
"We worked together for a very long time. It started at the Minor League level in the 1980s. I was the first vice-president, he was the general secretary. We formed the Minor League Coaches Association which ran courses for coaches.

"Later we went on to the national level where he was the manager for the national under-20 squad and I was a part of the coaching team along with Steve Bucknor and Jackie Walters. We were so close that we went together to every Youth World Cup. We went to tournaments in Canada, Scotland, Japan, Argentina and all others. In 2005 we also travelled to Holland, along with Walters, for the advanced coaching course.
"It's really a great loss," Halliman said.

"It's one of amazement and one of shock, it is just not just here, but Worldwide, I'm getting emails and phone calls from all over the diaspora." said vice president of the Calabar Old Boys Association Don Steele.

"He has been a stalwart to the school since he had joined us through the football programme and he will be greatly missed." he added.
Hunt had been offered the job at Calabar in April 2003, when Meadhaven were forced to train at the school.

"David was a person who dedicated his entire life to football. said KSAFA and Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) treasurer Rudolph Speid.
"It is with great regret that we heard of his passing, the loss is such a monumental one to our organisation, he has left a void that will never really be filled."

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
