King: In regal form for Hornets

Marlon King scored one and created two as leaders Watford won 3-0 at Coventry, while West Brom moved into the top two by beating Blackpool 2-1.

King set up Adam Johnson for the Hornets' first after half an hour before scoring his fourth goal in as many games.

The match was put beyond doubt just seconds into the second half when King laid on Darius Henderson.

A late second-half strike from James Morrison gave West Brom a 2-1 win in a tight game against Blackpool.

Morrison fired an unstoppable 20-yard shot 10 minutes from time to send Albion up to second and subject the Seasiders to their third league defeat of the season.

Scott Vernon had drawn the away side level following Ishmael Miller's early opening goal.

Plymouth survived a freak own goal from goalkeeper Luke McCormick and a second-half onslaught to win 2-1 at Charlton and leapfrog their opponents into fourth place.

McCormick suffered a horrendously unlucky moment when Charlton Danny Mills' long-range shot went in off his back to bring the home side level - after Sylvan Ebanks-Blake had opened the scoring.

Ian Holloway's side bounced back to grab the winner when Barry Hayles made the most of poor defending to poke home from close range before the break.

Richard Cresswell struck twice to frustrate Neil Warnock yet again as the new Crystal Palace manager's first home game ended in a 3-1 defeat by Stoke.

Cresswell infuriated Warnock two years ago by turning down a deadline-day switch to Sheffield United and opting to join Leeds instead.

And the former Sheffield Wednesday striker ensured he stayed in Warnock's bad books with two well-taken goals shortly after the break as Stoke secured their first away win since the opening day of the season.

Dougie Freedman cancelled out Cresswell's first strike within two minutes, but the Eagles were grounded when in-form Ryan Shawcross' header came off the underside of the crossbar and Jon Parkin bundled the ball home.

Lee Camp saved a first-half penalty and produced a superb individual performance to help managerless QPR claim a morale-boosting point at fellow strugglers Preston.

The Rangers goalkeeper kept out Paul Gallagher's poor 33rd-minute spot kick and continued to frustrate the home side with a string of fine saves.
Norwich slid deeper into relegation trouble after an abject first-half surrender handed Burnley a 2-1 victory.

Robbie Blake scored after 51 seconds and Andy Gray netted a penalty three minutes later, with Chris Brown pulling one back in the second half.

Danny Webber's second-half goal gave Sheffield United their first league away victory of the season and left Leicester manager Gary Megson still without a win at the Walkers Stadium.

Scnthorpe heaped more pressure on former manager Brian Laws as two first-half goals from Martin Paterson condemned Sheffield Wednesday to a fifth home league defeat.

Deon Burton's penalty gave Wednesday the lead but Paterson levelled almost immediately before sealing a 2-1 win.

Ipswich preserved their 100% home record after overcoming an almighty scare to see off East Anglia rivals Colchester.

Clive Platt's superb volley put the visitors ahead and Neil Alexander conceded a penalty which he saved from Mark Yeates before the Town revival began.

Jon Walters and second-half substitutes Liam Trotter and Danny Haynes then gave Ipswich their fifth win out of five on home turf.
