El Salvador tie Costa Rica in friendly
13.10.07 - El Salvador played to a 2:2 tie against visiting Costa Rica in an international friendly at the Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador on Saturday.
Costa Rica took a 2:0 lead at halftime over El Salvador with goals from Víctor Núñez and Carlos Castro in the 26th and 37th minutes, respectively.
Eliseo Quintanilla got the cuscatlecos on the board in the 61st minute, while Shaw Martin got the equalizer with three minutes remaining for the 2:2 final against the ticos.
The result extended Costa Rica’s unbeaten streak against El Salvador to eight games. The last time the cuscatlecos defeated the ticos was on 4 March 1997, 2:1, in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifier in San Salvador.
Costa Rica returns home to face Haiti in a friendly at the Estadio Ricardo Saprissa in San José on 17 October.
