(Photo: contributed)</SPAN></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><P class=StoryText align=justify>Pepsi-Cola Jamaica has announced the second in the series of special edition "Ting True Heroes" labels, with a new Ting label featuring Jamaica's former national player and coach, the late Peter Cargill.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The Ting bottles bearing Cargill's image will be available locally for three months, with 25 cents from the sale of each bottle going to the Peter Cargill Memorial Fund which supports his family.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Denise Dixon, marketing manager for Pepsi-Cola Jamaica, explained the concept behind the "Ting True Heroes".
"Ting is a truly authentic Jamaican beverage known worldwide for its quality. We were looking for a project that would showcase this and allow us to pay tribute to Jamaicans who epitomise these characteristics and generate the same feeling of pride."<P class=StoryText align=justify>She said that as a true Jamaican sports hero, Cargill was an obvious choice to be the second sports personality to be featured on the Ting label.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Tracing the link between Ting and Cargill, Andrew Reid, general manager for Pepsi-Cola Jamaica, said, "Peter demonstrated discipline, dedication and professionalism in his sport and as an icon and example to youngsters, we want to showcase this true hero. Our heroes are not often lauded during their time and this gives us an opportunity to do so."<P class=StoryText align=justify>Cargill's family, his wife Avril Cargill and two children, Da-Vid and Danique, visited Pepsi-Cola Jamaica last week to see the first bottles of Ting with the former Reggae Boy's image on the label come off the production line.<P class=StoryText align=justify>"I was elated to hear that Peter's hard work and dedication in the sport of football would be acknowledged," said Mrs Cargill. "I am happy to know that he is still remembered, and this certainly helps to keep his memory alive."<P class=StoryText align=justify>Pepsi first introduced the "Ting True Heroes" initiative with Olympic gold medallist Aileen Bailey featured on the labels in 2005. While making no commitment as to who would be featured next, Reid said, "We recognise that there are so many instances of excellent performances by Jamaicans in sports and entertainment and it will be an interesting challenge to select the next personality to be featured on Ting."
