  • Don't look for any Ghana clash any time soon

It certainly won't happen this weekend and it seems like they are having problems finding a suitable location. Even a planned Nigeria match looks like in jeopardy.

    Oh well.

Ghanaian Press sey the match is confirmed!

Soccer News of Monday, 8 October 2007 Confirmed: Ghana to host Jamaica in Accra

Accra, October 8, GNA - Ghana's Black Stars for the first time in nearly three years may be heading home next week to engage Jamaica in an international friendly.

The switch of venue has become necessary after organizers of the proposed friendly against Jamaica, which was originally slated for London on October 14 called off the game, citing security difficulties. Information gathered by the GNA Sports indicates that the Stars are likely to host the encounter at the renovated El-Wak stadium in Accra on Wednesday, October 17.

The British Metropolitan Police were apprehensive in policing the game, which prompted the administrators of the Leyton Orient venue to withdraw their permission to host the encounter.

With several other London Clubs said to have turned down the offer to host the encounter, the Ghana Football Association, (GFA) which is bent on taking advantage of FIFA's three days for international friendlies are said to have decided to turn to the home venue. The decision is to aid the preparations of the Stars towards the biennial event beckoning Ghana next January.

The game in Accra will be the Ghanaians first game after playing in the World Cup qualifiers in 2005.

LONDON, Oct 8 (Reuters) - Soccer news in brief from around the world:

      * Ghana have had their friendly against Jamaica in London on Saturday called off, officials said.

Match organisers said they had been unable to find a ground to host the game after Leyton Orient withdrew permission on security grounds. Ghana are now seeking to host the game in Accra on Oct. 17.

      * Alessandro Del Piero wished Italy well for Saturday's game against Georgia in Genoa despite being left out of Roberto Donadoni's squad for the Euro 2008 Group B qualifier.

"I'm sorry that I'm not part of the squad for Italy-Georgia. Good luck to Italy," the 32-year-old Juventus captain wrote on his Web site (www.alessandrodelpiero.com).

      * AC Milan aim to have Ronaldo back from injury for their next Serie A match, at home to Empoli later this month. The Brazilian striker has not played for the European champions this season because of a thigh problem he suffered in July.

"We hope to end this ordeal after the break (from league action for international games) and see him on the field on the 21st," Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani told a news conference.

THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.
