but they were both test players at the time gamma... that makes a BIG difference... don't you think... lambert needs to raise his game and become a test player before he can be considered to lead others who are similarly qualified as captain but are performing at the highest levels of the game...

Maybe..but what is the problem with Gayle's captaincy? Wasn't he the one in England that WON games for West Indies at the TEST level? Wasn't he named V/Capt of Windies? Isn't he known to be able to motivate players, relate to them and get performance? Doesn't he have SIGNIFICANT more high-level cricketing pedigree that Lambert? I don't know the full picture but is it one of these middle-class Kingston Club or similar support?

are you out of your mind... of course sarwan has solidified his place as a batsman on the west indies side...

well that is where you and i differ baddaz...it's not as if he is just now coming in and being asked to be captain..he has THE BEST RECORD captaining jamaica over the last 2 or 3 seasons. they won a double with him as captain!

if anything, GAYLE, has less experience as captain than he does albeit at the regional level, but lambert has been dong something right as captain for years now, his record is perhaps only second in the region to ganga over the last 3 years or so!.

One only has to look at their respective record as captain to see who is the better leader. As for as I am concern, there is no comparison between Gayle and Lambert as to who is the better captain. Lambert as a far better record than Gayle as Captain. Lambert understanding of the game is second to none in the WI. It is not pure luck why he has won at the U15, U19, school level, and senior level. Yes Gayle is a better batsman and has played more games at the highest level, but so has Chaunderpaul who was one of the worst captain in WI history. We have to make the distinction between a gifted batsman and a gifted leader. Lambert is a gifted leader. Gayle did well in England with the 20/20, but that is after Ganga who is an atrocious captain, as it relates to aggressive and tactical decision making strategies. I know he won with T&T but anyone could have captain that team. T&T did not win because of Ganga's strategies. Sarwan is also a very poor captain, at least Gayle was proactive in his decision making...Sarwan and Ganga are always reactive. Lambert is a visionary leader.

first it wasn't at test level unless you are using the term loosely, it was for the ODI series (when last you know west indies to win a test abroad?)...tamar lambert has a proven track record for winning in that selfsame job....as has been pointed out marlon tucker successfully captained a jamaica side with test players and he himself barely even got a windies invite.

as far as i know tamar lambert captains either st catherine or lucas.

                      Out of my mind?
You are making the same case for him that the footballers are making for Joel Senior...out of a bad lot a 'less bad one'!

I will leave it up to you to post his record as WI batsman!

it may surprise you. i think his batting average is near forty 38, chanderpaul's is 46 and gayle's is also 38....
