Oshkosh Truck Corporation won a contract from the Chinese government for six airport fire and rescue vehicles, to be delivered before the start of the 2008 Summer Olympics, according to the Milwaukee JOURNAL SENTINEL.
The trucks, called the Striker, can shoot water, foam, and dry chemicals while rolling at 70 miles per hour. Ordinary fire trucks would have to stop and stretch hoses. Oshkosh has orders for 25 additional trucks for four other Chinese airports.
Oshkosh hopes to sell other heavy duty trucks in China, such as garbage trucks, snow removal trucks, and concrete mixers to feed the current building boom in China.
China plans to build 50 new airports in the next three to five years, and about 20 nuclear reactors in the next eight years.
