  • Taking bets - It's Asafa for me all the way

    Put up now, or...

In about half-an-hour, Powell will confirm that he is indeed the world's best, and that my fellow Dunrobin Primary classmate, Stephen Francis, is also the world's best.

I think you right. He may even go below 9.80 sec.

He looks that good in the first 40 meters of his races. He just steps to the front by 3-4 meters and then shuts down.

I think so too. He has been the world's best for years. Now is time to prove it on the big stage.

He really looks awesome in the first half of the races. if he can just shake the jitters and keep his form throughout he will be ok.

Looked awsome? He never ran through his races, always pulling up. Gay ran strong all through his races..never shutting down. Asafa was just conditioning his fragile psyche to affect his physical performance. He needs to stop this crap and finish strong because he his building a reputation of being a choker.

He now HAS a reputation of being a choker.

I doubt running flat out in the heats has anything to do with it.

Listening to him right now. He is being very honest. He said he tightened up and he panicked. Will just have to come again for the Olympics.

Maybe I should have consulted Paul Marin before making my prediction.

Gay never let the fact that he has to run the 200m interfere with his 100m preparation. He ran hard in all his races...finishing very strong in all his 100m heats. Asafa needs a new strategy for competing in these race that matters. He had the perfect opportunity to enhance the mood of an entire nation that just went through a devastating hurricane...Very disappointed.
