Fifth batsman to score a century in the opening session of a test. Did it in 78 balls. First it's been done in Australia.http://www.espncricinfo.com/australi...y/1075238.html

People were quick to read test cricket it's last rites because of T20 however the T20 players want to play test cricket and they have brought something to it as well.

West Indies however suffer because T20 players do not want to play test cricket.

Aussies...English...South Africans have base contracts starting at US$800,000/year +match fee + bonus...of course they don't mind playing Test cricket...West Indies top contract is US$100,000/yr which much lower match fees...

Pakistani and Bangladeshi players too. Sri Lanka a as well probably.

West Indies problems are manifold. Part of which is the unreasonable expectation to be paid more from a board that doesn't have the resources the other do as well as the fact that Windies have been a B side for years so revenue and sponsorship is **** poor!

what stars Bangladesh and Pakistan have?!!

Market dictates that West Indies cannot compete with those numbers. Will love to see what happens when Windies standards fall even lower and prevent players from being able to showcase their talent internationally.

Market will dictate West Indies stop playing international cricket

Bangladesh had (1) player at IPL 2015...Pakistan also only had (1) player at IPL 2015...they are not in demand...

Ok ... Pakistan lucky to get ANY player in the IPL..IPL may be the most lucrative but not the only T20 league but we digress.....

Where Windies gonna get even US500k to retain any one player?

& the players understood that...then the WICB slashed match fees by 300%...which caused the walkout...now nobody will accept the retainer...

Why were the match fees reduced?

Also was that not part of a CBA in which WIPA signed off?

because the ICC cut funding to teams outside the big 3...the WICB is incompetent and the players agreed to a cut...not a 70% cut however...and this jumping ship for more money isn't unique to.the West Indies...ask South Africa...they just lost two.key future players to English County cricket because of money

KOLPAK is there and has been there but South Africa remains a very god team, cannot say that for the West Indies .... Even with the so allied 'stars' we were losing badly. The larger picture is, yuh si how yuh disingenuous, you KNOW wicb cannot compete with Aussie retainers and yet you bring it up you also know WHY ...

Notice you chose to ignore the wipa question as well.

The more I look at it the more I see these star players trying to use such as a scape goat for their lack of ability to win test matches and Odis as a team

WIPA acted in a secret agreement with WICB...which is why they are now irrelevant...what about New Zealand...why are their retainers more than WICB? Why should the players suffer because of the WICB's incompetence? It's in writing in an official report that the WICB is useless...yet you still blaming the players?

Players play the game not the WICB and WIPA seems more to be the culprit moreso than the WICB

What about New Zealand? Their players have a far different attitude than Windies players and in recent times they have improved their ranking and performances TREMENDOUSLY!
