The Editors of this forum killed my 50th birthday fantasy. One part was a round of golf at Whistling Straits Golf Course, located about 50 miles north of here.
The US Senior Open golf tournament starts Thursday at Whistling Straits.
Built on the bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan, this course is sculpted to look like a course in Ireland. Whistling Straits is way different than any other average US tour course. It is worth a look on TV, especially holes #17 and #18.
Showers are forecast for today and tomorrow, which may soften the greens, but hot and dry weather for the weekend. If the course dries up and the wind blows, all hell will break loose.
A day of golf at Whistling Straits costs about $350. I played it about four years ago, after I won $500 at the track the weekend before.
