Shocker! Okagbare chickens out of 200m

    By Ben Efe
Athletics Federation of Nigerian officials are reeling with shock, following Blessing Okagbare’s decision not to start the women 200m at the IAAF World Championships on-going in Beijing, China. This is against the background of her poor showing in the women 100m where she placed last. Before that race on Monday, Okagbare, had shown signs of distress.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Tori Bowie, the bronze medalist in the 100 meters at the world championships, has been informed she cannot run in the relays for the Americans because she was absent from a training camp in Japan earlier this month.
According to Bowie's agent, Bowie attended a relay camp in Monaco earlier this summer, but because she missed a camp in Narita, Japan, in the lead-up to worlds, USA Track and Field informed the sprinter it was against policy to allow her to run in the relays.
"Of course, she would love to run the relay and support her country," said Bowie's agent, Kimberly Holland.
USATF did not immediately respond to emails from The Associated Press seeking information about Bowie's status.

                      Very Interesting Indeed!

Bowie, the 100-meter national champion, cannot make the 4x100-meter team because she missed a training camp.

On the other hand, they can take Sanya Richards-Ross, who did not even make it out of the 400-meter semifinal rounds, as a member of the 4x400-meter squad. Really makes one wonder.
