  • Just when we thought Jamaica's 400m men were stepping

up to compete on the world stage, here comes van Niekerk, Merritt and Kirani, medalling under 44s. Merritt's time is amazing, at a time when you think his best was behind him. The great Kirani has never run those times! Are Merritt and Gatlin sharing their Gatorade?

With all the fanfare, and a new NR, not one Jamaican made it to the final!

    Oh well!

True but a sub 44 run is something to work with.

Who is the "we"? I did not believe they were ready for the big stage.

We have nuff to cebrelate. For years me a call our male 400m runners Hag seed (because dem always 'round a back). We have never been this rich in sub 45 secs 400m runners. All of a sudden now it's the in thing. Having 3 in the semis, we must now start as favourites for the 4x400 gold. Same thing goes for the ladies.

Favorites...hmmm. The ladies have a realistic chance of gold, but wouldn't call them clear favourites with a fresh Sanya to come in to the US team. Co-favourites perhaps?

The men will do well to medal.

….and a fresh Francena McCocory as well.

While they have consistently won silver or bronze medals so far this century, the unfortunate fact is that the only time a Jamaican women’s 4x400-meter relay team has won a gold medal was at the 2001 IAAF World Championships in Edmonton, and this was because the USA’s anchor leg runner dropped the stick during the baton exchange.

                  Maybe it is a gender thing,but t
our women's 4-400 is akin to the US men's 4-100(abound with decent runners),yet it is the males that are given the lion's share of confidence.
This World Championship was seen as a possible changing if the guards,it may very well be exactly that. This US 4-400 team seems hurredly assembled, our team is a seasoned one. Here's hoping that the US does not drop its baton,so there is no room for doubts!

No such thing as favorites for any of our relay teams this year. Still can't get over Sherone Simpson messing up the 4x100 in Beijing.
