    None!!!!

I do however wonder about the decision to have Elaine Thompson run only the 200.

Poor Beastie.....this season seems like a lost one for him ....

Yeah, I am at the point where whatever MVP does in terms of their athletes I just ignore it. From my standpoint it just as simple as set the expectations if you don't meet it then you are out. Too much games especially at critical times like WC and Olympics.

The idea is - Elaine has a better chance of winning the 200m. She is young, save her from the rounds in 2 events and have her just crush the 2.

        ?

I think they lack vision, she is eye-catching in the 100 more than most of the athletes(older than her that will feature in two events),and as such will probably end up figuring in our 4 by 100.
          She starts and Shelly-Ann finshes.
Mr President,do you think the 100 determines our best leg runners slated for the curve leg?

Is that explanation coming from the MVP camp or just speculation?

Basically the explanation coming from the commentators on TVJ.

They reminded viewers that SAFP did not double even when she could, time-wise, and they think that is the plan of the coach, to unveil Elaine to both events when he thinks she is really ready for it.

And ascording to Earl Bailey, he will never question Stephen Francis' decisions.

Ok, I understand not wanting Elaine to double but choosing the 200m as the event for her to do is a bit unusual.

I don't know if I agree with the position of NEVER questioning Francis' decisions, nobody doubts his technical expertise but he has also made decisions affecting the national team based on non-technical reasons before. Nothing is wrong with asking why even if we don't like the answer we get. That said I do think he should be given the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she will run 21.80 this weekend, who knows.

An alternate theory I just heard:

The move allowed Natasha Morrison to definitely make the team to Beijing ...... With ET in the race , they were not sure Natasha would make the first 4 spots . But Natasha lifted her game and came 2nd.
                  Possible??

Certainly possible. Not sure the commentators have a clue as to what Franno is thinking.

                      Natasha did look good!

                        Franno explains:

"Elaine [Thompson] has been preparing for the 200 metres and at this stage of their career we do not let our sprinters do more than one event. We had to choose between the 100m and the 200m and we are very confident that she can win the 200m here and in Beijing and if not this year then next year," Francis said, while noting that there were concerns that Thompson's poor first 40m in the 100m may hamper her this season.

"She [Thompson] has been a bit shady with her starts and has been struggling here and running the 200m would have been more beneficial for her," said Francis who predicted that his young charge will take down some big names in the 200m this year.

                          And then there is this:

Cuthbert-Flynn Blasts Bruce James Over 100-200m Switch

Olympian Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn has lashed MVP boss and track and field commentator Bruce James who reportedly gave a statement as to why the impressive new comer Elaine Thompson was pulled from the 100m line up at the National Trials now underway at the National Stadium.
Cutherbert-Flynn questioned the logic to have Thompson compete in 200m over the 100m. She questions, “Who has he ever heard of choose the 200m over 100m in any world games?”

I am leaning on the side of Cutherbert.
Elaine has beaten a few reputable foreign female athletes on the 100,I would not lose at night sleep over Shell-Ann getting the anchor leg in the 4 by 100 which means the must have Elaine has to start, working on her starts is a must.
Who is our best female curve runner in the 4 by 100?
