Court revolutionized the game then. She incorporated a weights program, had a relatively powerful serve and overhead. Serena would not have been able to crush her serves armed with a wooden racquet herself. The players today are much fitter because they have to run down balls that are moving much faster.

Plus, she played doubles and mixed doubles while playing singles and she was winning them all! And she did all of this in between having children!

Her overall records will not be broken this century or the next.

Having said all of that, this demonstrates how useless this talk about "greatest ever" is, at times. Pele wasn't playing against defenders like we have today, neither was Maradona. If Tiger Woods break Nicklaus' records then maybe he can be judged "greatest ever" since golf is not exactly a face to face competition.
