      Kirani James’ Monster Run!

Just look at the separation between Kirani and the rest (times)! Unbelievable!

      1. Kirani James 44.66
      2. Tony McQuay 45.54
      3. LaShawn Merritt 45.58

Question: Did Kirani arrive in Shanghai well ahead of the Americans? Just wondering about the possibility of jet-lag for McQuay and Merritt.

Despite the heroics of Javon Francis and Akeem Bloomfield recently, our 400m continues to suck, at least on the male side.

I am a little skeptical about the winning time. Cedenio race did not look like a 44.36 compared to Javon's 45.54
Hey .. look at the bright side .... at least you're not a Liverpool fan! - Lazie 2/24/10 Paul Marin -19 is one thing, 20 is a whole other matter. It gets even worse if they win the UCL. *groan*. 05/18/2011.MU fans naah cough, but all a unuh a vomit?-Lazie 1/11/2015

              Get Used to Cedenio Winning!

Get used to Machel Cedenio, Jangle, because this guy is the real deal. I have been watching him since his Under-18 Carifta Games days, and he has never failed to impress.

I always think of the irony of the 1948 London Olympics and, even more so, the 1952 Helsinki Olympics in the context of Jamaica’s current status as far as its men’s 400-meter program is concerned.

In Beijing this year, for example, the 4x400-meter men’s teams that will most likely medal will be three of the following: the USA, Trinidad & Tobago, Great Britain, the Bahamas, and Grenada. Probably even Russia and Nigeria too, if they can get their acts together.

Feel free to archive this prediction of mine.

I expect Trinidad to seriously challenge the USA for gold in the 4x400m. It just seems from that race, that the time should be slower than 44.36, which is very fast.

Jamaica always overachieves here. Put a baton in hand and Cedenio is not sure to beat Donx….
