that begs a question though as to why would he be at a disadvantage with his height when he usually runs such a brilliant anchor leg INCLUDING running against taller athletes eg the Russian at the 2013 WC...

he should just run his natural race as if he is chasing someone.

my own thought is that he may overcomplicate the race in his mind ... how to run the first hundred etc and that takes him outside of his natural rhythym..

Individual 400m (with a stagger from start to finish) is more tactical, than a relay leg, which is pretty much an all out sprint......So when a 1/4 miler has to use almost twice as many strides to keep pace with a taller runner, they are at a disadvantage heading into the home stretch, especially if they don't have the lead.

well that is what I'm saying ...... he does not have the lead on the relay legs and runs a wicked anchor leg. in fact the Jamaica invitational he came out the last turn with a slight lead and faded where he usually finishes strong.

therefore if he does the all out sprint then that is what should work for him. it does not appear that this is how he approached the flat race...
