And way beyond mine too... any idea where this is? looks like more than one area of the island... the first where they are carrying the bikes, I'm guessing is north coast... the dry trail and the pine trees, somewhere above Kingston...

Yes, that looks like the hills of Newcastle, Mavis Bank, Cinchona, dem parts dere. I would say they finished on the beaches of St. Mary. I wonder. It could even be Trelawny...
I think you're right on all counts: My brother (not Paul) has been "torturing" me with these links. He sent me this link http://www.singletrackjamaica.com/ . I had no idea the niche (mountain biking) was as developed as it is in JA. The "fat tyre" festival for 2015 is already sold out according to the site. Very nice!
We don't realise how big sports tourism is. About 15 years ago I saw a website on sports tourism in Barbados. It included mountain climbing. Yes, I didn't stutter!
Anyone who knows Barbados knows the highest point on that island is the clock tower in Bridgetown. Ok, not really, but whatever sports tourism Barbados can generate, we should be able to do much better.
In December, a bunch of running clubs from NYC will participate in the Reggae Marathon in Negril. And that's just the ones I know about. I am certain every hotel, B&B and cranny wil be sold out for those few days.
Just recently, a hockey team from Cayman spent a few days competing and having fun in Jamaica, hosted by my hockey club. Next year, we go to Cayman to do the same. A few years ago, an Austrian hockey team came to Jamaica to play and drink Red Stripe beer, not necessarily in that order. We have been invited to Austria to sample their beers and play some hockey.
So, while the govt. appears to be pussyfooting around the sports tourism thing, individuals and clubs are moving right along. Didn't know that biking had taken off as well.
Recognizing the victims of Jamaica's horrendous criminality and exposing the Dummies like Dippy supporting criminals by their deeds.. or their silence.
