This is what's being reported for the contract Bolt signed in 2013 - $10 million a year through 2016, an “extra $10 million” if Bolt competes in the world championships in London in 2017, and an additional $4 million annual salary to serve as a “Puma ambassador” on retirement.

If PUMA is using Bolt to sell "skin tight unitards & spikes" that's a waste.

He & his team decided to resign with PUMA, so it's no surprise to me......Just check PUMA's track record at promoting individual athletes & their line. If an athlete wants to have a successful line, he/she goes with who has experience & a strong track record.
Promoting individual athletes & their line is something that PUMA & Adidas were forced into, starting in 1994 when Adidas refused to give Jordan his own line. NIKE saw the opening & as they say the rest is history & that partnership is still paying off BIG rewards today.
Have you seen Roger Federer's new tennis shoe???.......Looks like the Air Jordan 3. This is what motivated the design - There is a wide gulf between demand for basketball shoes and tennis shoes. Retail sales of basketball shoes rose 20% last year to $4.5 billion, with the Jordan line accounting for more than half of the market, according to SportsOneSource analyst Matt Powell. Among retailers tracked by SportsOneSource—which doesn't follow specialty tennis stores—sales of tennis shoes came to less than $50 million.

Nike's cross-marketing ploy seems to be working. At the Nike Lab store in Manhattan's Soho neighborhood, the Zoom Vapor AJ3s sold out within about an hour Wednesday, a store employee who answered the phone said.

NOTE - What NIKE was offering was way more than PUMA, not only in money but also in promotion & partnerships......They had Labron James management & promotion team meet with his people, in Philadelphia, a few months before he resigned with PUMA, and if he signed with NIKE, he was also to have meetings with Jordan to guide him & his people with design, marketing & promotion during & after running.

Bolt's high end headphones flopped as well?
Li Ning has offered him big money, however loyalty to Puma prevailed.
