  • Should Hyde get sportsman of the year?

    http://jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/2...Wwy7M.facebook

There is a strong argument for giving Jaheel Hype the sportsman of the year award based on his international successes but he is a schoolboy. This one is tough, let me think about thee implications.
The same type of thinking that created a problem cannot be used to solve the problem.

The implications are acknowledging the obvious , school boy T&F( Champs ) is a professional sport.

    Hyde should get it.
THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Why not (give it to him)?
Deserving I think as no other male is around that has accomplishments even close to his. Is there time for another to surpass his feats?

      - SUPER SPECIAL JAHEEL HYDE
What can one say about Jaheel Hyde that wouldn’t sound like an understatement, especially after his performance at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. Many will remember the date August 23, 2014 as the day Jaheel Hyde became the first Jamaican male youth to win a sprint hurdles gold medal at the Youth Olympics, the first youth athlete to break 13 seconds in the 110m hurdles, and perhaps the first ever to hold a World Youth, World Junior and Youth Olympic title simultaneously. This is absolutely incredible, even if this is only the second edition of the Youth Olympics.

ok, but the basis of the award would be for his international achievements not Champs.

is it only available to to professional athletes? when T&F was an amateur sport, T&F athletes were still being recognised.

i am not sure that just being a schoolboy should disqualify him. he has been our most consistent T&F male athlete this year.

Isnt the bar to equal or surpass what you do locally on the international stage ,he has beaten them all.

                    Do not know.

...when T&F was an amateur sport, T&F athletes were still being recognised.
There was a time I knew where to find the criteria used to select our Athlete of the Year. Seem to remember in the past there was always a press conference...

Hope being a schoolboy would not disqualify him. ...and that his performances should have him 'in the mix' with good (?) chance of copping the award.

Total waste of time argument, this is for sportsman of the year not sports schoolboy of the year, people really get it twisted and totally drop the whole context piece. What he did was great, but that level is just dolly house to the real thing, means nothing, just a sampler, just icing on the finger, a little flavor or taste, a hint of things to come. Mek we leave the youth alone and stop swell him head with foolishness and make him hunger for greater things so we can name him sportsman of the year when he dominates at big man level. Geezam!!!!!!
