  • Is Jaheel Hyde the best hurdler ever?

He now holds 3 global titles, all done in 13 months.

His latest title, the Youth Olympics 110m hurdles, done in a new world record of 12.96 seconds!

I don't know of any other athlete who competed successfully over both hurdling events.

    Congrats to him!

Who knows what is daddy is thinking? His Daddy was and probably is still trying to transfer him to KC 6th form but the kid and his mother will not have anything to do with it!

Does keeping that job justify relocating your humble, happy, successful and level headed son against his wishes?

A transfer from Wolmer's to KC is a demotion!!!!!

Sheez! Just asking a question! Can I get an answer?!?

I guess the answer is yes, Lenny is the coach.

I would understand his father wanting him to come to KC. That's all I will say about that right now.

Olympic gold in both events would change my mind anything less has already been achieved or we have been close so no real new territory to conquer there except for the actual gold which from an incremental standpoint in a single event is just not worth as much as a very fast and strong baller with discipline who may have better than average skill, that combination is pretty much hard to beat.

Single event gold I would choose ball for him if he really have the skill and the talent and is more than just fast and strong.

We just have not seen that dominant player yet from Jamaica, Fuller was the closest and he had too many discipline and injury issues which pretty much stopped him from getting to be a world class top ten player.

                      I do!
Never heard of the hurdler who made a living at it. Not saying there has never been one...just never heard of such. I remember the greatest - before young Hyde - Renaldo "Skeets" Nehemiah - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renaldo_Nehemiah - having to try his hand at American Football to secure a good pay day. Turns out he was a lousy - OK! ...not good at! - but he made millions as a so-so American footballer.

If Hyde's showing at soccer/football at this stage is an indicator of potential that can reasonably realized then multi-millions of dollars are in his future as footballer.

In any case at this stage of his athletic life I would recommend that he seriously explore options open to his becoming a professional footballer.

                      - Willi?
The question on his speed was answered in that 12.96 win. Surely looks to currently have 10.00 - 10.20 sec 100M speed in those legs. Not saying he can run those times. Non-athletes would be shocked to know that transferring ability...current ability on pace/speed from one distance to another is not all about the ability to move the feet quickly but overcoming mental block. Look no further than some 200M runners who in that discipline covers the 1st 50 meters in time that would make TOP OF THE WORLD 100M runners proud but cannot reproduce same when the starter is faced at the start of 100 meters race. Hyde having demonstrated speed shown in running the 100MH may be/could be a poor flat 100M runner.

Yup, Willi...he looks a future senior TOP OF THE WORLD performer in both the 400MH and the 110MH!!!! His just concluded run was awesome!

Karl, Nehemiah was an active athlete before track and field was an openly professional sport.

Many hurdlers today make a living at it. Liu Xiang of China was making millions a year, mostly from endorsements.

LOL, LOL. You are hereby forgiven for your KC comment. Dont make it a habit though. Cant understand Karl sometimes. The returns from T&F are exponentially different now than back in the day especially for someone who can be packaged as a young phenom.

                              Granted!
                              ...and others?

btw - I have not researched Lui Xiang, so please help by posting info on his earnings? ...and where he made his money - Not only as Chinese in China? ...as a Hyde as Jamaican in our Jamaica market would not be fair comparison.

...and an outlier is not a fair comparison. professional footballers who make 'fair money' are, not as percentage of total number of professional footballers, do make good money. Any way you look at it, on like and like comparison, not so hurdler-athletes.

mmmm? Would Lui be taken care of by the Chinese government? ...but not rewarded by that government with appreciable wealth? Just asking!!!! Do not know!!!!
