    NBA commish bans Sterling for life.

    [11:17 AM PT -- Donald Sterling has been BANNED FOR LIFE from the NBA and from the L.A. Clippers organization.

    He was also fined $2.5 million by the NBA.

    Silver says he will do "everything in my power" to try to "force" Sterling to sell the Clippers.

    Silver says Sterling has no place in the NBA.

    Silver says he does not know if Sterling plans to fight the lifetime ban.

    Silver says he has full support of the NBA owners.
