Powell is the perfect example why it is important that student athletes make the very basic grades that ISSA sets. He has no reasoning abilities and from his testament, it appears that he has been living in La-La Land and just going through the motion like the dumb jock.

I have a problem with this talk about having an athlete paying for testing on products before they ingest them. If the label on the product does not list a banned substance, then it should not be the onus of the athlete to have this product tested. Doing an internet research on the listed ingredients on the label should be enough.

I worry more about his earnings than whatever the outcome of this trial is.

He has made a LOT of money, has anyone with his interest at heart been watching it?

An injection doesnt have to be done by a clinician ,nurse or MD , all you need is a prescription that you can self administer.

Thats it, that said I have listened to the testimony of Powell, and his defence is basically ignorance, doesnt know ! I see no guilt in that.Theatrics !

Sorry not even a prescription in most cases , documentation that you have self administered or know how to by a clinician. Some of these medicated syringes are prefilled.

The only thing that raises my eye brow is the cost of the test, seems ridiculous to argue about cost when your livelyhood is on the line.

                    Powell labels Francis a hypocryte.

Powell says Francis seemed happy with Xuereb
                    January 15th 8:07am

                    By Anthony Foster, Trackalerts.Com Writer

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Asafa Powell, one of the greatest sprinters of all-time, said his former coach Stephen Francis seemed pretty excited with Xuereb around him, totally contradicting Francis’ statement last July.

Powell, who is giving evidence into his positive test for banned stimulant oxilofrine, which is contained in Epipphany D1, said “coach (Francis) didn’t seem to have a problem.”
“Coach looked pretty much excited that Chris was here,” said Powell under cross-examination, which contradicted Francis’ statement.

Francis, in a Gleaner story last July, had thrown the majority of the blame squarely at the feet of Doyle, whom he accused along with Powell, of constantly looking to circumvent the rules of the club.

"I told him I did not want this person around my training sessions. I told him I don't trust people from Canada because they are usually quacks. The person who he says recommended this guy is not good. I told him we would find someone else. The Canadians have a bad reputation," Francis said.

JADCO's lawyer Lackston Robinson pointed to a statement last year by Stephen Francis, Powell’s former coach, saying the club rule is that all supplements must be cleared by him (Francis) before taken.

“I wasn’t aware of that rule,” Powell said. Powell, who asked why he didn't ask Francis' help to check the supplements, said the coach has over 100 people to deal with at the club. He was then asked why he didn't check with a doctor, he replied "its not the norm (normal)." He also testified he doesn't have a personal doctor.

Powell said after all that happened he just didn’t know who to trust again. He said it got so bad “when I returned to Jamaica my mother was offering me orange juice and I told her no,” delivering almost the same statement as Sherone Simpson last week.

Powell said, in the past, Francis had given him supplements - Cell Tech, Nitro Tech, Megaman Sport and Vitamin C - these he said he took inconsistently for years.

                            Asafa's Hearing: Doyle didn't check Xuereb's credibility
                            January 15th 6:50pm

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Asafa Powell’s manager Paul Doyle testified today that Canadian Chris Xuereb, who treated the former world 100-metre world record holder is not a certified physiotherapist. Doyle was speaking on Day 2 of the drug hearing into the positive test of Powell.

The 31-year-old Powell is facing the disciplinary panel following his positive test for the banned stimulant Oxilofrine at the national championships in June.
Powell blamed the positive tests on a new brand of nutritional supplements given to him Xuereb, who was hired to treat his chronic injury problems

Under cross-examination from Lackston Robinson, the lawyer representing the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission, Doyle said that although Xuereb was not certified he qualified as a physiotherapist. Doyle also said Xuereb's treatment had held Powell.

Doyle said Xuereb was highly recommended to him by chiropractor, Dr Carmine Stillo, who he described as an "honorable man".
Doyle further said he didn't do any research on Xuereb or his qualifications as the Canadian came highly recommended by Dr Stillo.

Doyle remembered all he asked Xuereb was "about his treatments."
Doyle told the disciplinary panel that he had wanted a physiotherapist at a short notice to work full time with Powell.

Asked if Xuereb was a qualified therapist, Doyle said, "I do not know." Asked if he tried to find out, Doyle said, "I did not."

Doyle also told the panel, under cross-examination that a report that a statement from a spokesman speaking on behalf of Dr Stillo that he was warmed that Xuereb "had absolutely zero professional designations or credentials" but that Xuereb "could be used at his own risk", was not true.

Doyle said that Dr Stillo only told him that Xuereb “has good hands.”

The hearing will continue on Feb 12 and 13.

If Asafa was not done (because he is), would we be talking about him needing a good ban?!? I doubt it! But we have Bolt and Blake, so who needs that perennial failure, Asafa?!?
