  • Sherone Simpson trains with new coach in Florida

Beijing Olympics 100-metre silver medalist Sherone Simpson is now training in Florida under new coach Loren Seagrave.

The move has signalled the end of the relationship between the 2006 Commonwealth Games 200-metre champion and her long-time coach Stephen Francis of MVP Track Club where she has trained for almost a decade.

Simpson is provisionally suspended from competition following a positive drug test for the stimulant Oxilifrine during the national senior championships last June.

Simpson, who in 2006 was ranked number one in the world in both 100 and 200m, and former clubmate, Asafa Powell, were issued an ultimatum by Francis last August that they would have to choose between the club and their agent Paul Doyle, once the doping matter was settled.

The rift between the coach and the athletes and their agent stemmed from Doyle's hiring of Canadian trainer Chris Xuereb, who the athletes believe is responsible for their failed drug tests.

Seagrave is a coach of world renown. He is known as one of the best sprint and hurdles coaches in the world who has conditioned six Olympians from five different countries including Bahamian 200-metre gold medalist Pauline Davis.

In 1998, he was sought out to direct the training of 100m World and Olympic Champion and former world record holder Donovan Bailey.

Hurdles champion parts with longtime coach

      6:04 am, Sat October 12, 2013

Olympic 100m hurdles champion Sally Pearson has parted ways with her longtime coach Sharon Hannan, citing a need for a coaching change.
The 14-year partnership between Pearson and Hannan culminated in Pearson's gold-medal triumphs at the 2011 World Athletics Championships and the 2012 London Olympics.
Under Hannan's guidance, Pearson also bounced back from two serious hamstring injuries to claim the 100m hurdles silver medal at this year's world titles in Moscow behind flying American Brianna Rollins.

          Yes, These Things Happen

I get your point, World Fan .

These things indeed do happen, and track and field is replete with examples of other outstanding athletes who, for one reason or another, found it necessary to change coaches after a while. For some, like Jeremy Wariner, it does not work out for the best, but in other cases it sometimes does for athletes.
