The Veronica Campbell-Brown doping case hit major roadblocks earlier today, with what one source has described as a ‘disgraceful’ lack of preparation by the Jamaica
Athletics Administrative Association and the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission.

Campbell-Brown, a Jamaican Olympian, was tested positive for a banned substance at the May 4 Jamaica International Invitational and was later provisionally suspended pending the outcome of the hearing.

The hearing started this morning behind closed doors at a private property owned by attorney at law Winston Spaulding on Balmoral Avenue in St Andrew.

However, not much was accomplished after it was revealed that several crucial documents such as the chain of custody forms for the sample taken from the athlete as well as witness statements had not been prepared and presented.

According to information reaching The Gleaner, the revelation brought the ire of Campbell-Brown’s attorney, former Prime Minister of Jamaica, PJ Patterson.

The hearing, which continues tomorrow, was adjourned after two-and-a-half hours.

Campbell Brown was tested positive for a diuretic which may be regarded as a masking agent for performance-enhancing substances. [/color]

THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

    Why Am I Not Surprised?

And some of us wonder why Anne Shirley gave up her CEO position with JADCO. Again, I suggest that the lady did so as a result of utter frustration with incompetency!

Looking at things from various angles, the patty shop mentality of Jamaica’s bureaucrats is simply not in keeping with the obligations and demands that come with super-power (of sprints) status! I have been trying to argue this from at least last year!

By the way, in my moments of depression, I like to wonder what things would be like with the JAAA had the Grace Jackson team won.

My error, Twan….although I hope that one day we will find out the real reason, from an objective inside source, as to why she was really fired. Sometimes trying to bring change to archaic attitudes and practices in an organization can be disturbing for that organization.

But thanks for the vital correction here.

            I Do Understand

Willi, I understand, and I am aware that you have had personal experience with her failures.

On the other hand, her ill-advised, treacherous action in running to the international media with our “dirty laundry” has served at least one unplanned purpose: it has deflected focus from the failures and shortcomings of two obviously incompetent organizations, the JAAA and JADCO. These two organizations, based partially on the thread-starting news story, continue to display their irrelevance and their gross negligence in the face of Jamaica’s international success in the sprints.

I will not stop setting fire to their feet – at least on this forum – until the vital changes/improvements are made in these two bodies.

It is vital....it adds another dimension to it.
