Jamaica’s 2002 IAAF World Junior Championships team was, without question, the greatest junior girls’ 4x100-meter relay team that the Caribbean has ever produced! On that lovely night in July 2002, our Fantastic Four shattered the IAAF World Junior Championships 4x100-meter relay record (43.40), running the second fastest time in history.
The Fantastic Four team was:
Sherone Simpson (lead-off)
Kerron Stewart (backstretch)
Anneisha McLaughlin (curve)
Simone Facey (anchor)
In fact, we missed the world record (43.38) by a mere 200ths of a second!
The silver-medal USA team (43.66) was:
Lauryn Williams (lead-off)
Ashlee Williams (backstretch)
Shalonda Solomon (curve)
Marshavet Hooker (anchor)
