    Campbell Brown drug issue overblown?

BY PAUL A REID Observer Writer
    Sunday, June 16, 2013

REPORTS of Jamaican superstar Veronica Campbell-Brown's failed drug test might have been blown way out of proportion, the Jamaica Observer has learned.

A well-placed source close to the issue told the Sunday Observer yesterday that the situation might have grown out of proportion and the reports of dire consequences and banishment of up to two years could be premature.

"No serious drugs were involved, no PEDs (performance Enhancing Drugs) were involved, that's all I will say," the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said.
After the 'B' sample came back positive, Campbell-Brown will next face a Jamaica Anti-doping Commission's panel, before which she will explain how the substance got into her system.
According to the source, she could receive a three-month ban or even a public reprimand. The source added that she was expected to be back in competition again soon.
Campbell-Brown won a bronze medal in the 100 metres and a silver as part of the Jamaica team that ran a national record 41.41 seconds in the 4x100m relay, but was a disappointing fourth in the 200 metres as she sought to create history by being the first woman to win three straight Olympic 200m gold medals after victories in the previous two Olympics.
Campbell-Brown told reporters in London that she has missed significant training time leading up to the games, for a medical condition which the Sunday Observer found out to be low blood pressure.
Reports of Campbell-Brown's failure of a drug test at the Jamaica International Invitational (JII) meet surfaced last Thursday and just over 24 hours later it was heard that the 'B' sample had also returned a positive test at the IAAF certified laboratory in Montreal, Canada.
Reports have also said that the multiple Olympic and World Championships medalist had tested positive for a diuretic, a possible masking agent for the use of steroids.
The reports of the failed drugs test had resulted in widespread hysteria among Campbell-Brown's legions of fans all over the island and even overseas expressing a wide range of emotions on the social networks

Over blown , when taking the diurectic lasix ? thats a powerfull diurectic usually prescribed by a nephrologist , cardiologist and pulmonogist in a clinical setting.

My eye brows are raised. Her legs must have been swelling like elphantitist!Anyway lets see the defence.
THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

So I guess that Andre Lowe, the senior staff reporter at The Daily Gleaner who broke the story, has no experience?

And by the way, in none of his stories on this matter did Lowe make any allegations or insinuations.

Sickko is big friends with VCB and her agent.

He is an insider with that camp, so he has access to info others don't.

You can get that in the supermarket X. Many women take it for water retention...

I am not talking about experience. I doubt anybody in Jamaican media get more access to VCB than Sickko based on his numerous articles I have seen in the past. Based on his past article as I only say they are comfortable with him and as Willi say he is friend with the camp.

I say it is good to see him post his opinion in this times of trouble for her rather than just staying away from it. As I said I don't know if she is guilty or innocent but either way she need support and I pray and hope she is not doping and it was accidental. But either way a little support in the worst of times can't be bad.

You don't know if she is innocent or guilty? I think her guilt has been established...

This is a retarded article that is going to do more to bury her than anything.

When, pray tell, do you use medication designed to lower blood pressure to treat low blood pressure?!!??!!

Andre Lowe's article was FAR better...

and his source that says there are no serious PEDs...

there are two reasons why these class of drugs are banned...

one is that it can metabolize quickly all traces of other drugs and allow the user to pass it out and so mask the use of all kinds of stuff.

but also it is banned because it allows the user to very quickly and artificially drop weight, which I am sorry to say, is illegal.

Last year Veronica really struggled to maintain a sensible competition weight and that was really displayed in her sub par 200.

particularly in women sprinting weight is EVERYTHING. at least that is Franno's theory and he has done pretty well with the ladies!

                              im just saying.
