Isn't Life Ironic?

From the late 1980s, our 100 and 200-meter women were the ones bringing us the glory while, in the case of the men, all we had were memories of Lennox Miller (1960s), Donald Quarrie (1970s) and Raymond Stewart (1980s). In fact, between 1991 and 2004 our women’s 4x100-meter relay teams were the only sprint relay representatives that Jamaica could count on to bring home a medal.
Now, with the advent of the legendary Asafa Powell shortly after the turn of the century, the male sprinters have come to the fore so well that today we own the 100 and 200-meter races and the 4x100-meter relay, setting world records whenever it pleases us!
The point of this comment is to express the hope that our other women will now step up to the plate and continue the fine tradition that is being maintained by our fearsome four: Shelly-Ann, Veronica, Sherone and Kerron.
To cite just one example, Schillonie Calvert promised so much during her Carifta Games days, much like Aleen Bailey in the 1990s, but today Schillonie continues to disappoint. The same for others like Simone Facey (one of my favorite junior sprinters around the turn of the century).

What is ironic is that Schillonie just dropped a 11.17s win over SS who ran 11.27s at the same meet. Wind +0.5ms. Schillonie had a late start to her season and suffers from chronic injury!
BTW, The correct wind reading for KBC was +1.5ms.
