MONTEGO BAY, St James — Jamaica's Senior Men's National Team 'JamRockerZ' have secured valuable international practice matches as they prepare for the FIBA Americas tournament in Venezuela, starting in late August.
It was confirmed that the Jamaican team will gave three crucial warm-up events as they prepare for the tournament that will be a qualifier for the FIBA World Championships set for next year.
The Jamaican men's basketball team receive their bronze medal at the Centro tournament in the Dominican Republic last year.

According to Ajani Williams, president of the Jamaica Basketball Association, the Jamaican team will play a number of friendlies in Toronto, Canada in a tournament set for August 8-11 then in San Juan, Puerto Rica, August 12-14 before another in Venezuela, August 25-27, just prior to the start of the tournament.
Jamaica have been drawn in Group A where they will face Canada and Uruguay on August 31, Puerto Rico on September 2 and Brazil on September 3. After this stage, the top-two teams will advance to the semi-finals and are guaranteed places in the World Championships.
Meanwhile, Williams said that they have managed to retain the core of their professional players who took them to a historic third place in the Centro tournament last year and are expected to significantly boost their team depth with new additions.
Those returning from last year are Samardo Samuels, Jerome Jordan, Patrick Ewing Jnr and Weyinmi Efejuku Rose.
Ryan Reid, who last played for Jamaica in 2011 and was a draft pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA, has committed to returning, the Jamaica Observer has learnt.
Williams said JaBA was expecting to add more professional players, including 6' 5" New York-born point guard Durand Scott, formerly of the University of Miami. Also, the association is in discussion with 7' 0" centre Ryan Hollins, who is presently playing for the Los Angeles Clippers after stints with several other teams in the NBA, including Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Williams said JaBA was still in dialogue with two additional NBA players "one of which is a legitimate burgeoning star" but said more would be said on those negotiations later.
