  • Chris Gayle becomes brand ambassador of real estate firm

West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle was on Wednesday named brand ambassador of Patna-based real estate company, Agrani Homes.

The announcement was made by company's Chief Managing Director Alok Kumar at a function here.

In his brief speech, Gayle expressed happiness over his association with the company active in Bihar, Jharkhand and National Capital Region.

The big-bodied Jamaican, however, refused to talk about cricket.

Gayle recently set a new record for the fastest century in the history of the game which came off just 30 balls for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, and then went on to make the highest score ever in Twenty20, ending unbeaten with 175 off 66 balls.

A large crowd had gathered at the venue, a leading hotel here, to get a glimpse of their favourite cricket star.

The fans also thronged the airport and the residence of JD(U) Legislative Council member Sanjay Singh, who is also associated with the real estate company, on the arrival of the hard-hitting batsman.

Chris Gayle takes Patna by storm

The Caribbean gale of the shortest form of cricket, Chris Gayle, took the city by storm on his maiden visit to the state capital on Wednesday. Thousands of his fans were seen running from the airport to the hotel he was putting in to have a glimpse of the cricket star who has become a terror for the bowlers in the ongoing Indian Premier League T20 cricket tournament after his 30-ball fastest T20 century and 175 not out against Pune Warriors last fortnight.

Arriving late by hours, the batting spine of Royal Challengers Bangalore was here to be announced the brand ambassador of a real estate firm. "For the first time I am here and I am happy to be here," is all he said to the disappointment of some but to the amusement of the many shutterbugs busy flashing their cameras while making their frames of the man in a black T-shirt with a matching cap despite the organizers requesting them not to use flash.

After reaching the hotel, he went straight to his room leaving the waiting media to make hue and cry and threat of staging a walkout. Finally, Gayle came in the hall amid noisy scenes. A large number of cameramen mobbed him and there was sort of confrontation between them and his bouncers as well as policemen. The crowd was so restless in the hall that there was chaos all around and the cricketer's 'press conference' concluded within minutes without a single question being asked.

After initial hesitation, he posed with a select group of fans at the residences of a JD-U MLC and secretary of road construction department Pratyaya Amrit.

On Thursday morning, Gayle is expected to visit Danapur where the real estate company is constructing houses.
