Andrew Riley wins Drake 110m hurdles over Merritt

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Jamaican sprint hurdler Andrew Riley surprised the Olympic champion and World record-holder, Aries Merritt, with a defeat at the Drake Relays in Iowa, US Friday night.
Riley, who attends the University of Illinois, ran 13.43 seconds into a strong 3.2 metres per second headwind to beat the American (13.48) into second.
American Aries Merritt leads countryman Jason Richardson and Jamaican Hansle Parchment home at the London Olympics last summer.

Jamaican Hansle Parchment, who took bronze at the London Olympics, ran a pedestrian 14.33 seconds for seventh.
Merritt set the current world record of 12.80 at a Diamond League meet last September, bettering the 12.87 mark of Cuba’s Dayron Robles.
