Gabrielle Douglas, the Olympic gold-medal gymnast, says she was the target of racist bullying at the gym where she first trained. She revealed the claims to Oprah Winfrey on her OWN show, "Oprah's Next Chapter." The Virginia gym, Excalibur Gymnastics, has fired back, denying the allegations.

Magazine Fuera de Serie has superimposed the face of the first lady over an 1800 painting, "Portrait d'une négresse," by French artist Marie-Guillemine Benoist. The artwork depicts a female French slave in a white gown and head scarf, with one bared breast. The magazine Fuera de Serie praises Michelle Obama as the "gran mujer" (great woman) behind President Obama, but the image has sparked controversy -- some experts see the image as an homage to slaves' emancipation and the start of a feminist movement in France, but some feel the cover portrait reeks of racism.
