Yohan Blake 'insulted' by $40,000 offer from British promoter to race at Birmingham Grand Prix
It's that terrible man Ian Stewart again. First, he rejects 2012's best proponent of the beer mile and now the 2nd best 100m runner on the planet Yohan Blake feels insulted because Stewart has grossly undervalued him.

Here again we have an athlete who doesn't want to accept what his true market value is. In this case the market is Birmingham. Lausanne obviously considers Blake to be of significantly greater value. In terms of the parameters Ian Stewart is working with, Yohan Blake would just be a $40,000 unrecoverable additional expense. The Birmingham Grand Prix doesn't need Blake. The meet is completely sold out, all sponsorship and TV dollars are in place. Stewart would not make a single extra dollar by bringing in Blake.

Would the Birmingham crowd want to see Blake? Of course they would. Will they care that he is not there? No. Once Stewart landed Mo Farah the selling out of the Birmingham meet was a lock. Blake is the world's second best sprinter. And that's his problem. He is the second best; not the best.

His non participation is based UK's tax laws. A non-resident athlete is taxed on global sponsorship and endorsement earnings as well as any appearance fee - levied at the 50% higher earning rate to compete in Britain.
