Isn't that Asafa's case too...but seems we have no mercy, pity or empathy for him...

It is these days, but he also had the other confidence issues when he was at his physical best.

That is not the whole story. Gay has his world championship and Olympic medals.

Asafa is an excellent sprinter super nice nice guy and he suffers from stage fright even before his injury problems.

                  Gay has NO olympic medals.

This is his first final and 2nd Olys.

                  That is the whole story.

                      Certain.

                      2004 team Mo/Gatlin/Crawford/Bernie Williams.

Gay was injured but ran the 100m SF only in 2008.

Someone mentioned the word empathy with respect to Powell.

The fact that he reached the final in the 100 is an outstanding achievement.

That over the years he has not lived up to ALL expectatations--is no reason to look-down (for want of a better term) on him.

BIG-UP Asafa Powell...he still has achieved plenty.

3 Olympic finals, the third fastest man ever, and no medal at Olympics nor World Championships.

                          He deserves empathy and more!
