Nobody is asking them to go out and build hundreds of pools as Don1 is suggesting. If these hotels can work as one as they do for the Hotel Soccer league and the Cricket league on the North Coast. Them coming as one and Sponsoring a pool in Montego Bay, Falmouth, Negril and Ochi would be a great start. Sponsoring competition not just for locals could also be a money turner. They can build the pool, if they don't need to run it then turn it over to someone else.

Last time I went to Decameron they had local kids practising on their courts with their tutors. Now others can open that up at times when the courts are not used. If not they could donate a few courts in the community as other businesses in the states often do.

If these hotels fail to get involve in community activities then people will not see them as a part of their community. You remember how after the flair up in Flankers how Butch when in the community and started working with the kids, because it was just outside his hotel? Don't wait for it to happen act now!!!.

Your proposal is well meaning but does not make sense

The development of high level swimmers requires extreme dedication of time and facilities

Hotel pools exist for the enjoyment of guests and are wholly unsuited to such a task... it would not even be suitable for any significant "community" purpose on a regular, sustained basis.... the regular natives of these hotels would be quite resistant to such an invasion

You cannot compare the impact of say football played on a field close to a hotel.. to swimming on the property.... in the former case the hotel natives are unaffected...in the latter they would be completely displaced from their aquatic romping

Let me ask where does any Tennis player on the North Coast play their tennis????? How many courts there are not owned by Hotels? Properties like Halfmoon have a football field on their compound and they also have open land which are not used, they could use thse lands and doesn't directly affect any guest. Hotel like the one in Hanover have a huge property accross the road that they have staff live on part, what is so wrong with building a Tennis court there? and have the public use it for supervised training of youngsters? How would that affect the guest?
