            Not Necessarily a Problem

No problem there, in my opinion.

The team we have is, based on results, a fair and rather obvious/expected one.

To the poster who mentioned the issue, there is nothing wrong with including a Jamaican equestrian (even more so when one considers that she is already living on the island on which the Olympics will be held).

My major personal regret is this: All year long I was sure that Patricia Hall would have made the top three, or even five, and so increased our 4x400-meter women’s chances for a medal. (I have liked this talented woman since the 1998 IAAF World Junior Championships in France and her outstanding lead-off run on the 4x400-relay team.) She was showing so much promise in 2012.

And talking about female quarter milers, did you see the results of the Russian women’s 400-meter qualifiers? Damn, that was no joke!

For the record, while I like her very much as a person (for example, her sense of humor), I am NOT among the fans of Rosemarie Whyte as a 4x400-meter relay runner. The thought of her on the relay squad is not one that I am really happy with. I have watched Whyte closely over the years, and each time, for some reason, Michael Blackwood always comes to mind!

I long for the day when we have as much of “others” as there are sprinters in our lineup. I see a couple of field events athletes, so maybe this is a start. But it’s been a long time since the heady days of James Beckford!

I’m happy to see that Alia Atkinson is on the team!

(BTW, an official list which includes ridiculous spelling errors such as “discuss” and “shot putt” has to be something of a minor national embarrassment!)

Is this our largest team to the games?

I agree. We could have save the money and ultimate embarrassment by getting a few cyclists and boxers to the games. We have always represented ourselves credibly in those events. Equestrian?. Give me a break.

I recall a boxing club near Palace theater when I was a yute, and boxing could be used a way to take dem off the streets.

I'm failing to see the embarrassment, didn't Samantha gave a credible performance for us in the 2008 olympics, and the 2007 pan-am games? I don't think it is costing us that much she lives in England, trains her own horses and has sponsors

Yeh but she wears the Jamaican flag. The flag belongs to the people and if she is just going to be another "has entered" then that is not in keeping with our long summer olympis tradition.
