Nissan has signed an advertising deal with Usain Bolt, Olympic and world sprint record holder, and “world’s fastest man” to promote the GT-R sports car in a multiyear, multimedia global brand campaign focused on major international airports and online media. Bolt is a very fast man, and the GT-R is a very fast car, so they should be able to work together. Usain has owned a Nissan GT-R since 2009.
While speed-wise Bolt is the perfect man for the job, his driving background is not that bright. He has crashed fast cars a lot, and once destroyed his BMW M3, totally stuffed it. But he should be alright in the Nissan GTR, as the car has four-wheel-drive and plenty of grip.
The campaign is titled “WHAT IF_”, and features iconic Nissan products and technologies that represent Nissan’s innovations that excite. In this high profile multimedia campaign, Nissan is provoking consumer curiosity with intriguing headlines, visually arresting imagery and innovative installations. This first ad featuring Bolt and the Nissan GT-R will appear in major airports around the globe on June 1.
