Video Replay Of Goals Works!

The Phoenix Coyotes just took a 2-0 lead over the Los Angeles Kings lead midway in the second period in the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs on a goal given on a call reversed by video replay.

Shane Doan of Phoenix took a shot that hit something in the net and came back out. The shot made a funny noise, not the "ping" sound when the puck hits the goal post or crossbar. The play was ruled "no goal" and play continued. Los Angeles took the puck to the other end, then and got a shot on goal before play was stopped

The referees were immediately called to the scorer's table. Replay clearly showed the puck entering the net, but hitting one of the cameras mounted in the back. The goal was awarded to Phoenix.

With the game still in progress, Los Angeles leads the series three games to none, and will advance to the Stanley Cup finals with one more win.

Try telling that to FIFA who probably have way more money than the NHL... they don't have to have it (goal line technology) for every single match but in the "premier leagues" internationals and major tournaments.. for a start.

This is how the system would work in a premier league. A video judge in the press box (retired referee?) would review all goals. He would then communicate to the main referee via his headset that a) it is a good goal; b) hold the kickoff for a few seconds, this play needs another look; or c) come to the sidelines for a full review.
