Unfortunately, the first innings debacle left us in a big hole and the Lions only have to make 197 and have all day to do it. Already the have 44 after 13 overs. Next we will hear how we fought back well reh reh etc etc ... BUT... the conditions reh reh etc ... ahhh bwoyy...

What a thing. Strike bowlers who Sammy keeping out of the lineup didn't get wickets. I am quite surprised.

Well, on the evidence there is nothing to suggest that Sammy would have had any success either; both Shillingford and Roach (whom Sammy has NOT kept out of the side) had 10fers against the Aussies... it is more likely he will displace either Samuels but more likely Fidel.

Samuels had a 31 and 44 so he might keep his spot, but who knows Deonarine might be rewarded for his Aussie performances with a place in the side at Samuels' expense. Who really need to be dropped are the openers but we have no specialty replacement openers and so it would mean fiddling with the top order and maybe putting square pegs into round holes at the top...

Interesting will be the side they pick.

Sammy is a far more disciplined bowler than the others, so he might have actually done well in those conditions.
He is not a batsman, despite people putting this all rounder tag on him. The man is a better than average slogger. As a bowler, he is one of the "best " we have, so that is the only way he should be in the team.

Powell did well. Edwards has done well in the past, but th swinging ball in england might expose his lack of footwork like it did when Gayle and Wavell did their first tour.

everytime that the batting does something the bowlers fail, this happened in the last series too.

in fact ALL the strike bowlers failed in the second innings, including roach.

Cant say that anyone on that team should be captain.

Only Shiv and Bravo place cement on the test team. Bravo a young boy and Shiv not much of a captain. Who knows what Gayle's status is.

If lambert was on the team, would he be captain?

If Lambert was good enough to justify his place, he could be a good captain. Unfortunately he is an average batsman at the first class level who has scored less runs than those who get picked ahead of him (apart from the openers who seem to be picked at random).

maybe, like sammy he could slowly earn his place as a batsman. i say give him that chance. interestingly a trini friend of mind pointed out that he is the only batsman he has seen to "pick" narine. i think it was int he t/20

Sammy's regional performance has merited a place in the team over many of the other bowlers who were picked over him. However, they were faster and considered "strike" bowlers, so they were always selected.

Sammy immediately performed when he was first called to the squad as a non captain and since being captain has been superior to the other bowlers apart from Roach. No slowly in his earning.

Pity we will not be playing against Narine.

more's the pity ..... we will struggle on with captain that is still learning about cricket

Sammy got his spot and ultimately his captaincy because of the bangladesh debacle ...... he is not a good enough bowler to merit his place strictly on that plus he is a mediocre fielder ... he drops too many for a slip fielder. cannot put a square peg into a round hole.

anyway, i will continue with my one man campaighn. TAMAR LAMBERT for windies captain mi seh!
