Unconfirmed reports say that former West Indies, Leeward Islands and T&T batsman Runako Morton was killed in a motor vehicle accident in San Fernando, Trinidad a short while ago. A post from the facebook group, Press Watch which lists it’s base in San Fernando, T&T, is confirming the rumors and gave more details of the accident. The posts states.. “It has been confirmed that WI Cricketer Runako Morton has passed away. Its been reported that he was travelling south bound and may have lost control of the vehicle slamming into a pole. The collision killed Morton on the spot.” No official confirmation has been released at this time. Morton who had several run ins with the WICB for disciplinary reasons, last played 1st class cricket for T&T in 2011 before he was arrested for possession of marijuana along with Leeward Islands allrounder Tonito Willett in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad in 2011.

Cricket in mourning as former West Indies batsman Morton is killed in car crash

West Indies batsman Runako Morton has been killed in a car crash in Trinidad on Sunday night.
Morton, who was 33, played 15 Tests and 56 one-day internationals for the West Indies. His last match for West Indies was a Twenty20 against Australia in Janaury 2010.
It has been reported in Trinidad that Morton lost control of his car while driving and was killed when it slammed into a pole.

England star Kevin Pietersen expressed his shock and sadness at the news on Twitter. He said: 'My thoughts go out to Runako Morton's family this morning... Such sad news!! What a lovely guy & fierce competitor!! RIP bossman!!!'
West Indies opener Chris Gayke also spoke out on Twitter, saying: 'We lost a True Warrior W.I Cricketer Runako Morton-May is soul rest in peace! Our memories together Live On!-My Condolences to his Family'
