  • WICB has offered Chris Gayle

The WICB has offered Chris Gayle the choice to retire from international cricket, if he cannot commit to fully representing the West Indies cricket team. In an email to Gayle, CEO Dr. Ernest Hilaire said the player who requested an unconditional No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for worldwide T20 tournaments could not be considered for selection to the team; Hilaire says the board believes it is justifiable to ask a first team player who requested a NOC to accept the condition that he make himself available even if other international commitments had been made. “So, Chris, it is your choice, whether you receive a conditional or unconditional NOC.”—“But you cannot have an unconditional NOC and be considered for selection to play for the West Indies.” Hilaire said. The Cricket Board’s CEO also stated that Gayle would only be considered for selection if he withdrew his comments made during an interview in April 2011. (Caricom News Network)

old news but it still makes no sense!!!

if he is not under contract why can't he have it? Whether he makes himself available or not is up to him not them! if he represents Jamaica that makes him eligible and he has done so for the 4 day tourney.

you see, when someone reasons backwards, int his case they want to say that Chris Gayle is the one who wants to keep himself out of cricket by asking for an NOC, but as long as he plays in the regional tourneys that should make him eligible for selection

Why bother though. He doesn't need to for the money and he doesn't really love test cricket, or so he said. So what's the point?

The WICB has made it clear that they are not ready for 21st century professional cricket. Todays superstar players DO NOT NEED international cricket to make a good living of cricket and they refuse to face up to that.

Well it certainly would make the WICB look even more stupid than they already do if he was to play for another Test team.

It would come with a loss of some support from the general public I think. As it is now I think he is making WI cricket have a debate than needs to take place. How to deal with professional vs international cricket in this era.

perhaps that debate ALSO needs to take place but the most immediate debate is "how do we get rid of those bunch of a*holes which currently comprises of the CEO and president of the WICB ... looks like they want to revert to WICBC ...
