Canadian swim team to train in Jamaica

THE McMaster University Swim Team from Ontario, Canada, will be conducting their annual Winter Training Camp from tomorrow through January 5, 2012 at the National Stadium Pool, in preparation for the 2012 Canadian Collegiate Swimming Season which begins in January.
The 37-member team, ranked second in the Ontario Region in Collegiate Swimming, will arrive in the island today at 6:20 pm and is led by coach Andrew Cole, who, on several occasions, has been a member of the Canadian national swim coaching staff. This year, he was named Age Group Coach of the Year by the Canadian Triathlon Association. Included in the team is Canadian swimmer Sarah Taylor, who is training to qualify for the Canadian Olympic Trials, as well as Egyptian male swimmer Mustafa Ghoneim, who is working towards qualifying for the 2012 Olympics in the 100m backstroke event.
On Saturday, the team will be competing in a Duel Meet with members of Jamaica's national swim squad. The meet will commence at 9:00 am at the National Stadium Pool.
Former national swim coach Jacky Walter is co-ordinating the activities of the group while in Jamaica.
