  • Question about Cricket: Run Outs

If the defensive team is attempting to get a "run out", and throws the ball toward a wicket, is it legal for the runner to swat the ball away with his bat?

I don't think it is legal. I think they have also changed the rule where the runner is now prevented from running between the stumps and the ball when it is thrown. If you are in the act of running no intention interfErence is permittted

You're correct. If the batter DELIBERATELY hits a ball thrown at the stumps to prevent a run out, he would be out "obstructing the field". If his bat inadvertently strikes the ball he's not out.

illegal, if the throw hits the runners bat by accident then it is fair game
