I understand Sickkos reasoning but no one who is interested in a record (official or not) really cares about number of opportunities versus successes... if Messi surpasses Maradona in number of goals scored, nobody is looking at the games played column... except maybe people like Sickko! 
If we look at George Headley's cricket career versus say Tendulkar, Tendulkar will always have more runs scored, or centuries. Yes, discerning folk will know there is a difference in the number of games played ... but it doesn't change the facts.
