  • Which country is the 2001 King & Queen of sprinting?

    Jamaica: 200f
USA is Queen: 100f, 400f, 4 x 400f. Carl Lewis should be happy.

Jamaica : 100m, 200m, Jamaica looks set to hold the crown King!
    USA : 400m, 4 x 400m
The same type of thinking that created a problem cannot be used to solve the problem.

You typed 2001. Was that an error? (Certainly you could not be referring to 2011, as the Daegu meet is not yet over! Plus the USA women did not win the 400-meter race; Botswana did!)

So, if you actually meant the 2001 IAAF World Championships (Edmonton), then you are well off base! Very much incorrect!!

    2001 IAAF World Championships:

    Jamaica:
Gold in the women’s 4x400-meter relay

    Bahamas:
Gold in the 400-meter race (Avard Moncur)
Gold in the 200-meter race (Debbie Ferguson)
Gold in the men’s 4x400-meter relay??

Moncur won his medal on the track that night, while the disqualification of Marion Jones ensured that the gold medal was belatedly given to Debbie Ferguson several years later. Ferguson had finished in a very close second to Marion that night in Edmonton.

I’m not 100-percent sure if the disqualification of the USA men’s 4x400-meter relay team meant that the silver medal Bahamian men eventually got that gold medal.
