Off and running! - Asafa back in training
    Saturday, August 27, 2011

Less than 48 hours after withdrawing from the men's 100 metres at the 13th IAAF World Athletics Championships, former world record holder Asafa Powell is said to be back in training with the hope of making the 4x100 metres relays set for next weekend.
The 28-year-old athlete's agent Paul Doyle told the Observer last night that the world's fastest man over the distance this season was close to being ready to compete.
Jamaica’s Maurice Smith (centre) crosses the finish line in seventh place in the opening event of the Decathlon, Heat Two of the men’s 100 metres in 10.98 seconds for 865 points, behind winner Eelco Sintnicolaas of the Netherlands (10.76) and compatriot Ingmar Vos (left), who clocked 10.82 seconds and Cuba’s Yordani Garcia (right), who was third in 10.85 seconds. Doyle also said the MVP camp has called a press conference for 6:00 pm (South Korea time, 4:00 am Jamaica time today) to update the media.
Doyle said earlier this week that Powell had failed to recover from a niggling groin injury that also saw him skip the London Diamond League meet earlier this month.
The men's 100 metres started last night with the final slated for tomorrow morning (Jamaica time).
Meanwhile Maurice Smith, the first Jamaican to compete on yesterday’s opening session of the 13th IAAF World Championships, is currently in 15th position behind leader Ashton Eaton of the USA, who won Heat One in 10.46 seconds for 985 points. A number of Jamaicans will compete on today’s second day.

Yeah, should it not be the Ja delegation calling a press conference.

So if bolt call a press conference?
THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Has MVP ever considered themselves anything but an independent entity, why the surprise?

This might be misrepresenting the facts as MVP cant call a press conference in Daegu as they are not recognised there, everything must come under the JAAA umbrella but sating that Doyle et al could have asked the JAAA to facilitate them but from now the less we hear from Asafa the better.

I notice the Gleaner has a story with him in his Puma short and infront of the IAAF backdrop at the press conference hence he was there as a Jamaica athlete not as MVP
Solidarity is not a matter of well wishing, but is sharing the very same fate whether in victory or in death.

What about Bolt only acknowledging Racers athletes and none of his Jamaican teammates?

The minute people understand that the breddah is a bit off, his actions will not be a surprise to anyone. And Assassin did want to put the man on Leno and Letterman. LOL

Asafa must not run. We don't need to take a risk with an injured man.
