Carl Whyte, a Jamaican who teaches high school in Maryland, has advanced to the next round of "The Big Break" on The Golf Channel.
Each week, the contestants compete in skills competition, and one player is eventually eliminated. Seven of the 11 golfers remain.
The winner gets $55,000 in cash, a $10,000 golf club endorsement contract, a $10,000 shopping spree at at nationally known sporting goods store, and a spot in the 2012 PGA Tour event in New Orleans.
