Beckles is living in the past...the Worrel Model is passe....it's also called the "lick ass" model. he's making a case for the mostly Bajan CCC team.....under the guise of intellectual discourse....
His points....Gayle is a Don very similar to Dudus that the Jamaicans got rid of...(yeah right!)...
the Sobers, Worrel, Lara, Lloyd are all red herrings for his argument...
So - back to the status quo.

I agree, this is just another Jamaica diss. This is why the Federation (Caricom) thing cant work. Mek dem Federate and we sign a bilateral agreement with them. We have HALF the population but 1/14th of the votes. Caan wuk.

Is Gayle mash up Windies cricket? Or it mash up long before?

It is a failure of management by the Bajan dominated WICB that could not cope.

Killed over ganja - Feuding sons of high-society officials
            published: Friday | January 5, 2007

AN ARGUMENT over ganja has left the son of Supreme Court judge Lennox Campbell dead and the son of principal of the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill campus, facing a charge of murder.

Rodney Beckles, 21, whose father, Professor Hilary Beckles, was en route to Jamaica from Barbados yesterday, is now in police custody after stabbing to death Khalil Campbell, 28, of Daisy Avenue, St. Andrew.

The accused Beckles, a student at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus, allegedly stabbed Campbell 21 times after an argument over the illegal substance.

Police sources say Beckles is alleged to have denied Campbell the opportunity to smoke his chillum pipe, claiming Campbell was not mentally capable of 'handling the weed'. An altercation developed during which Beckles allegedly stabbed Campbell several times despite attempts by two other persons to restrain him.

            To be charged today

Campbell died while undergoing treatment at the nearby University Hospital of the West Indies while Beckles was arrested by the Papine police. He is expected to be charged today.

The Constabulary Communication Network yesterday named Professor Beckles' son as Rodney McDonald of Bagatelle, St. James. However, UWI, Mona, sources confirmed the man arrested for the murder of Mr. Campbell was Rodney McDonald Beckles, a social sciences student at that institution.

Meanwhile, another source said Professor Beckles was experiencing difficulty getting a flight out of Barbados to Jamaica and hence opted to travel to the island via Miami. He was expected to arrive in Jamaica last night.

A table tennis player, Beckles, whose mother is believed to be a Jamaican, is a Barbadian citizen but has represented Jamaica at the junior level.

              Jimmy Adams questions Beckles

I have had the opportunity to listen to Professor Hilary Beckles’ speech made at a function in St Kitts and to hear a few sound-bites that he contributed to the documentary “Fire in Babylon.” I am of the opinion that the esteemed professor, for whatever reason, has not fully explored some of the fundamental issues affecting our game. In the following commentary, I seek to highlight one area in which Mr Beckles could have spent a bit more time reviewing, as he and others search for answers to some of the issues affecting our beloved game.

WIPA condemns Beckles for comparing Gayle to 'Dudus'

Calls for immediate Sacking from the WICB
                            Jamaica Observer
                            Tuesday, May 10, 2011

The West Indies Players Association (WIPA) has condemned remarks made by West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Director and Hilary Beckles, in which he unfairly compares former West Indies Captain, Christopher Gayle to Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.
WIPA has also written to the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of the University of the West Indies (UWI) requesting an investigation by UWI since Beckles holds a most senior position at that institution and is involved with several cricket-related activities within the UWI including considerable responsibility for the High-Performance Centre and the Combined Campuses and Colleges Cricket team.
WIPA specifically referred to an excerpt from a public statement made by Beckles on the subject, 'Frank Worrell: The Rise and Fall of West Indies Cricket'
"Frank Worrell is the Father of the Nation, Sobers is the King of Cricket, Clive Lloyd is the Statesman, Richards is the General of the Army, Brian Lara is the Prince, and Chris Gayle is the Don. And these are very interesting images indeed because the movement from the father to the Don and, and those who follow him and his cohort in the team do relate to him as their Don, and he has brought it is said, the Don-manship into how ‘tings’ operate in the team, and what the West Indies Board is trying to do at the moment is to uproot this Don-manship out of the culture in much the same way that the Jamaican people are trying to uproot Dudus from their politics…this West Indies Under-19 team is some interesting collection of very smart and bright young men and there is a different quality of personality at the moment. They do not wish to be like Chris Gayle, they do not wish to be like am, ah, Marlon Samuels," Beckles is reported as saying.
WIPA called for the immediate resignation or expulsion of Beckles from the WICB and any further dealings with West Indies Cricket.
"The organisation and its members would find it difficult to have any confidence in a person who appears blatantly prejudiced against some of the players and who, because he is both a WICB Director and Principal of one of our regional university campuses, is in a position to make decisions that affect their livelihood and their ability to represent their countries and region. We are convinced that his remarks about Mr Gayle could do tremendous damage to Mr Gayle's reputation and future relationships with members of the Jamaica and West Indies teams," A WIPA statement said.
WIPA was also upset about the reference to Marlon Samuels who has recently be recalled to the West Indies team after serving a two-year ban for improper contact with an Indian bookmaker.
"These words have gone into the public domain and as a result Mr Samuels has been held up to ridicule," WIPA said.

Gayle may well be due for some criticism but to call the man a Don like Dudus is distasteful to put it mildly.
