  • Did anyone watch the U17 Boys

    200m final in Carifta?

I hope that young man learned a lesson. (Jevaughn Minzie)

His premature celebration (can't see why else he turned around) cost him the gold.

He was doing an "Extol". Remember the Wolmers Boys in Champs 2010?

He was trying to urge on his teammate to come join him on the podium and in so doing stumbled and lost his gold. His teammate, JC's Rohan Walker, came 5th.

Thanks for that explanation... the commentators were saying that he celebrated early, which maybe is one explanation, but the "extol" is more believable as his body language was just as you said... as if he was actually waving someone on...

People on the ground there eventually found out and explained to us far away.

Minzie seems to be a good vibesy, yute.

What he did was silly but kinda well intentioned. He volunteered to run the mile relay when another teammate got injured...and did well too!

They took the gold, even though the Trini yute Cedeno (one to watch) was running hard on the anchor... good race.

BTW Did they rule on the Bahamas 4 x 4 U20? One runner clearly left his lane and another looked to be on the line.

            They were disqualified

Unfortunate, but rules are rules.. you have to run 400m not 399m
