I have never been in Calgary, but I have been at several "Teddy Bear Toss" games.
"Teddy Bear Toss" games are held in early December. When the home team scores its first goal, the fans throw stuffed animals on the ice. The stuffed animals are then given away to children in hospitals, homeless children, etc.
Sometimes, police give stuffed animals to children who were involved in a car accident
Rockford, Illinois, even though they have an arena that holds only 5,900 people, has very generous fans. I have seen some very large stuffed animals there that easily cost $50 or more.
Once in a while, I get lucky on a crane machine.
One time, I went to a "Teddy Bear Toss" game only to see the home team get shut out. They had to wait until after the game to toss their toys. The home team was so bad, the fans might have also tossed their cookies, too.

if you want goons, try the LNAH semi pro league in Quebec. The rules of that league state players must occasionally take a break from fighting to try to put a puck in a net.
The Calgary Hitmen in the video are a junior (U-20) team, from which NHL teams draft players. There are three major junior leagues in Canada: The Western League, which includes the Hitmen, covers western Canada and the northwest USA. There are also the Ontario League and the Quebec League.
